ANIMATION

The field of computer graphics has progressed a long way since the first graphical package, SketchPad, was produced by Ivan Sutherland in 1963 [23] and computers are now capable of drawing millions of polygons a second.

This section of the chapter looks at graphics API's capable of the animation and rendering of a vitual environment, toolkits for the containment of the animation in an operating system consistent application, and some existing technologies that could be utilised.
