CVoiceControl (http://www.kiecza.de/daniel/linux/index.html) is another open source project for users that to utilise speech recognition under linux. Console Voice Control allows users to execute linux commands by speaking them. It comes with the ability to extend the list of recognisable commands, a speech recognition engine that runs in isolated word mode, and that allows for editing speech models, and for multiple speech models. However, the editing of voice models, is cumbersome and much more user involvement is needed than with the commercial tools, making it much more error prone.
